Start Rolling in dough - flour tortillas recipe

Sometimes do not have to, as corny a product from the grocery store until you eat a homemade version. Tortillas are an excellent example. Although commercially produced tortillas are good, they lack the strength and freshness of the homemade variety. Be warned before you try this recipe for flour tortillas. You can never go back to the comfort of tortillas from a package.

Ingredients for tortillas:

"Stand Mixer"

2 cups flour, all purpose cleaner
1 teaspoon bakingPowder
1 teaspoon salt
1 / 4 cup vegetable shortening or lard
3 / 4 cup hot water (115 to 130 ° F)

With an electric mixer or just your hand mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Make sure you distribute the overall reduction of dough. A sticky mass of dough to form quickly. Once all ingredients are mixed, turn the tortilla dough on a floured surface and knead about 5 minutes until it has a smooth consistency and no moresticky.

Now divide the dough roll into 8 equal portions and form them into balls in your hands. Let the balls on the floured work surface and with a clean cloth and let them rest for 20 minutes.

After the dough balls have rested, heat a large skillet over medium heat. With a rolling pin each ball into a thin tortilla about 6 to 8 inches in diameter. Now, one at a time, place each tortilla in the heated pan. Cook on each side until brown spots appear.Each side of the tortilla will cook about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stack them up as you cook them so they stay warm. Place the tortillas in a covered container if you need it to warm for a while. These tortillas are best served warm, but you can save those remnants in a sealed container or bag and within 1 or 2 days.
