  • KitchenAid KP26M1XNP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Nickel Pearl Reviews By Customers
  • This is the third KitchenAid mixer I own. I have a Classic white 4.5 quart tilt-head that I have used for 40 years, and a 5 quart bowl-lift Proline which is about 20 years old. In addition I have an antique Hobart 10 quart mixer from 1910. It still works, and I do use it.
I bake a lot of bread and the main reason I just had to have this new mixer was because of the spiral dough hook, and yes...it was worth it. I think the spiral hook is far superior to the regular c-hook for mixing doughs, especially very sticky ones like rye. Also, I have made very stiff bagel dough in this mixer with no problem. I think the slow start is a nice improvement, eliminating splash out upon start-up. So far I have been pleased with this mixer, though it is noisy.

Pros: 1. It accepts all the attachments from the other KitchenAid mixers. 2. The cover for the attachment connector is hinged. (I have had the cover fly off one of the older mixers). 3. According to enclosed literature, the plastic parts which were the focus of previous complaints have been replaced with metal parts so that should no longer be an issue.

Cons: 1. I cannot imagine why, in this day and age, Kitchenaid would manufacture attachments that cannot go into the dishwasher! 2. The included splash cover feels kind of flimsy.

Note: I have purchased Metro Beater Blades for each of the mixers. I find they do a great job mixing batters and cookie doughs and definitely cut down on bowl scraping. Additionally they can go into the dishwasher.

This mixer is a must have for everyone's kitchen!!! - Shelly Littleton -
Almost 16 years ago, my husband bought me my first kitchenaide mixer, a 4 qt white one. It still looks and works like brand new. It never scratched, chipped or faded. This year for my 17th anniversary, he bought me my professional size 6 quart mixer as I have established strong baking skills and this skill has begun earning me some extra money. I love this mixer! It is powerful, it is an awesome size, and has allowed me to work less as far as how any batches I make of anything. The ability to adjust the speed is so beneficial that it has opened up the possibilities to make things I couldn't before. I would urge everyone who cooks, to get a kitchenaide mixer regardless of size. It will make your life so much easier in the kitchen! This is an all in one machine that will last a lifetime! I kept my first one, the motor has never broke down, and with my baking, I am sure that I will need to use a second mixer the next time I make a wedding cake! I assure you, there is no other appliance in the kitchen more dependable than this one!

  • If your a serious baker - skip this one - homebaker -
I purchased the Pro 600 because I like to bake bread. The first one I received in November, 2009 stopped working the first time I used it. I resorted to my trusty 25 year old Oster. They sent me a new one and I returned the non-working one (after just 1 try). The second one I received does work, but I am not happy with it. After 3-4 minutes, the machine shuts down and I end up finishing kneading the bread by hand. Once the machine cools off, it eventually will start again - but who wants to wait that long!!!! I called Kitchen-Aid to register my complaint and basically, they told me that I'm SOL. The machine is designed to shut down when it gets hot and it's doing what it's designed to do. I also did not overload the machine. This machine is equipped to handle 8 cups of whole wheat flour (or so they say), when I actually use 6-7 cups of whole wheat flour. So, I was not maxing the capacity out. If you just want to mix a box cake batter, it would be fine (but you would be able to complete that task with a cheaper mixer). If you are a serious bread baker, skip this product. I'm switching to Hobart!

  • Product Specifications
  • KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. This model also includes a pouring shield for guiding ingredients to their proper destination, and the bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off. --Betsy Danheim

    From the Manufacturer

The Artisan mixer's strong 325-watt motor delivers the power to handle the heaviest mixtures, and mix large batches easily.

The 5-quart polished stainless steel bowl with ergonomic handle is big enough to handle large batches of heavy mixtures. Its ergonomically designed handle is contoured to fit the hand and makes lifting the bowl more comfortable.

    Unique Mixing Action

The beater spins clockwise as the shaft spins counter clockwise; moving the beater to 67 different points around the bowl. This unique mixing action creates a thorough blend of ingredients and eliminates the need to rotate the bowl.

    Multiple Speeds

10 speeds allow the user to select the right speed for the mixing job; from very high to very slow stir. It's easy to select the precise speed needed for a perfect mix.

    Versatile Accessories

The flat beater, dough hook, and the professional wire whip add to the versatility of the mixer. The flat beater is the ideal accessory for mixing normal to heavy batters. From cake mixes to firm cookie dough, the flat beater mixes quickly and thoroughly.

The dough hook mixes and kneads yeast dough, saving both time and the effort of hand-kneading. The wire whip incorporates the maximum amount of air in whipped mixtures for fluffier whipped cream and angel food cakes.

All attachments are solidly constructed, and attach easily to the stand mixer.

    Easy Clean Up

The pouring shield fits around the top of the bowl and prevents ingredient splash-out. The chute makes it convenient and easy to add ingredients.

The tilt-back mixer head allows for easy access to bowl and beaters. A lock lever holds the mixer head securely in place and the bowl fastens tightly to the base.

    Optional Attachments

Optional attachments (sold separately) complete the package to make cooking a pleasure. From citrus juicer to sausage stuffer, KitchenAid stand mixers can handle just about any job in the kitchen.

  • KitchenAid KSM152PSNK Custom Metallic Series 5-Quart Mixer, Brushed Nickel Reviews By Customers
  • Only a true Kitchen Aid mixer fan would buy so many of these. I started out over twenty years ago with a cream one, traded, then got the 5 qt industrial gray and gave it to my sister, then a black 5 qt which my husband gave to a friend because he felt we didn't need two, and my favorite, this one. I also gave a cobalt blue 5 qt to my brother in law although he rarely cooks and often works in Belgium and Japan; and a bright red one for another friend. I sold commercial restaurant equipment for 17 years and their products were essential to our business so I write from more than personal experience.

For my home with cherry cupboards the rich copper mixer earns a place on my counter. This is a hard working and beautiful companion in the kitchen especially if you can't afford the space or price of its larger model. I will be getting the new sweep batter paddle for it next since I already have grinders, juicers and every other attachment.

Just remember these are very heavy and should go on the counter rather than on a shelf or in the garage. Use the paddle for mixing heavy batters and the dough hook for bread. Don't get stuck using just the wire whisk for everything. I keep all the paddles in the bowl.

Recently reviewed the purchase of this mixer in white that I bought for my daughter. I purchased this one for my wife, it is our second one. The first I bought for her 29 years ago. I bought it in white back then. The first one has been used regularly because my wife is a very good cook. We kept waiting for the old one to die, well with KitchenAid, that never happens. So after 32 years of marriage I bought her the Brushed Nickel KSM152PSNK. If you do not have a KitchenAid mixer and you like to cook, you need one. Spend the money and buy one. I know we will get at least 32 years of service from our new one.

  • This turned me into a cook - Kristi G., mom of Sage - Rome, GA
This mixer literally changed my life. I am now a cook.

Before I got my mixer- I won mine in a contest - I was making cakes from box mixes with my hand mixer, and I was buying my pie shells in the freezer section of the grocery store.

Now I feel like there's very little I can't do. Favorites are pizza dough, pound cake, pastry crusts (for quiche and pot pies and Jamaican beef patties...)and every day bread.

I watched all the cooking shows for years, but it just never clicked that they were all using stand mixers because they KNEW something. Oh yeah they do!

When I first got mine, I was afraid of the loss of counter space. Ha! I use it as much as I do my stove and it can have as much counter space as it needs! It comes with a very handy recipe book with all sorts of basic items. It's a keeper.

The KitchenAid website also has a lot of recipes and forums. If I'd known a long time ago, what I know now, I'd have saved pennies if I had to for one of these. They are definitely worth the investment. It is so nice to cook a pie without worrying if I have a pie shell. Now GREAT pastry is just a few minutes away.
