Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RKP2671ER Professional 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Empire Red
This mixer's great features abound. An electronic sensor ensures mixing action remains at the speed selected from among the 10 available--even when the going gets tough. Mixing begins softly to prevent splatters and "flour puff." With the beater moving clockwise and the shaft moving counterclockwise there's no need to rotate the bowl for the beater to reach all ingredients. The bowl-lift lever functions easily. A ventilation system cools the entire mixer to prolong motor life, and a resettable overload-protection system prevents overheating. The mixer measures 11-3/8 inches wide, 16-1/2 inches high, and 14-5/8 inches deep. --Fred Brack
Editor’s note: This is a reconditioned appliance. Reconditioned generally means that the appliance has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings it back to like-new condition. Some appliances may contain cosmetic blemishes.

Buying that mixer was a first class move. The machine can do anything you want. My wife really does a lot of heavy duty baking during the winter months and that 6 qt bowl can really hold those double batches. This is the kind of mixer I wish we had while I was serving in our US Merchant Marines while working in the galley and so much of what we made was done by hand (almost 40 years ago).
My wife has this along with the Classic mixer that she uses for smaller jobs and she also has the hand mixer that's her favorite. We have really put our trust in the KitchenAid products but it is trust that they have earned by making the best products out there. We also have both their big and small food processors. Did I mention that before we purchased our first KitchenAid mixer we went through 3 brand new Sunbeam stand mixers. That's my fault due to seeing how cheaply they were made out of plastic I should have invested a little more and went with KitchenAid right from the start (yes we do learn by our mistakes) This wonderful company deserves all the credit that folks like my wife and I give them !

KitchenAid no longer has my vote - - IDAHO USA
As an avid cook and bread baker I was especially excited to get a KitchenAid Professional model mixer. The brand had such an excellent reputation for quality and durability. After replacing the mixer 3 times for reasons from motor burnout to a badly wobbling head I finally gave up and asked for my money back which I then invested in a really fine piece of kitchen equipment, the Electrolux Kitchen Assistent (spelling is Swedish as that's where it's made). It is far more powerful, durable, sturdy and versatile. Would never go back to KitchenAid!
Great. until it stops working - Gemini16 -
I bought this and loved it! It's beautiful and powerful. This Thanksgiving, I attempted to make mashed potatoes and the lever/motor is not working properly. The machine turns on (at a medium speed only) and quits after 10 seconds. It will turn back on, but only at medium speed (no matter where the lever is) and will turn itself off after 10 seconds. It's just disappointing. No wonder they discontinued this model. I'm going to try to fix this-my dad is handy. I still love the looks & when it's working properly I love how powerful it is. I'm disappointed with this product as I only used it maybe 45 times, I guess I didn't get my money's worth on this product.
Known issues with Epicurean - S. Ziebarth-Roth - minneapolis, MN USA
After my KitchenAid Epicurean stand mixer died in the middle of a batch of cookies this morning, I decided to go online and do some research. Seems mine is not the only one to not start the first few tries or start in high speed only to cut out again. As of this morning, it just won't start at all. It seems there is a shift defect. My mixer is 10 years old (although the on/off shift seemed "iffy" from day one), so my warranty is long gone. I picked up a Cuisinart SM-55 with a 800 watt motor (largest of any stand mixer) and am THRILLED!! I love the tilt-head and the weight of the unit (I move it from cupboard to center bake island and back) - the spillguard and spout are ONE piece and don't need to be removed to change mixing attachments. Best of all? It's quiet in comparison to the Epicurean. Do some research yourself and check out what actual users of stand mixers say before you purchase. Also, determine whether a lift bowl or a tilt head are important to you. In using both, I wouldn't use a lift bowl again - too heavy, to hard to work with contents of bowl.

I have one negative complaint: my attachments leave a gap between them and the bottom of the bowl. I would imagine this is to save wear and tear on the bowl, but it has caused problems with some of my mixing. One thing I love using a stand mixer for is meringue as it definitely saves my arm from a hand mixer. However, with this gap, the whisk doesn't even make contact with my egg whites...and my recipe is usually using 4-6. I have to START the whipping with a hand mixer until it fluffs up enough for the stand mixer whisk to reach it, thus dirtying two appliances and taking extra time. Most of the time when making cookies, I have to do several stirs with a spoon by hand as there will be bits of flour in the bottom of the bowl that didn't quite get incorporated.
If you enjoy cooking, but don't really make super-heavy doughs like bread and do more meringues, I would recommend the Artisan. I never had this problem with it.
The best Christmas gift ever! - C. Chaffee -
I was watching an info-mercial on one of the local home shopping channels, about this machine. I only asked my husband for ONE thing, this professional mixer. I don't think I have ever recieved a more welcomed gift! It now is used on a daily basis. I mix cookies, mashed potatoes, and even my meatloaf with ease! I think the best thing I make now is home made bread! My family now enjoys this tasty treat daily! I remember my mother making bread and how time consuming it was. If you own this machine, do not hesitate to use it.
Best Stand Mixer! - uafnanook2001 - Alaska
I've owned this Kitchen Aid mixer since Christmas 2004. I am STILL excited about it! It has done everything I have asked of it - double batches of cookies, triple and quadruple batches of Banana Bread! It does it all and does it with ease. I researched stand mixers before I bought this but am SO glad I decided on this one. My mother had the 5 qt. mixer and she often said she wished she had gotten the bigger model. That is what pushed me toward this 6 quart Professional mixer. And I haven't been disappointed! This fall and winter, I am going to get real adventurous with my now 5 year old mixer and come up with some recipes I haven't tried! No matter what I come up with, I am assured my Professional Kitchen Aid stand mixer is ready for the task! Buy this model - you will NOT be disappointed!
An incredible machine... my best friend! - Belles - Phoenix
I know, it seems silly, but to say this pro model is anything but fantastic is an understatement. It's in use in my kitchen almost every day. It handles the toughest of bread doughs to the most delicate of meringues and everything else in between. It's great to mix meatballs or meatloafs and I've purchased several attachments including a meat grinder and sausage maker, which we use often to make our own breakfast sausages, and the pasta maker, which I use for fresh, gorgeous pasta-- lasagna to linguine.
The only regrets I have about this machine is that it lacks the flames custom paint job that Alton Brown has on his.. and by golly, I'm going to have my own flames one of these day!
I've used KitchenAid mixers for years.. so did my mother. If you cook and bake at all, you really will never regret having one. High quality, great product and KitchenAid stands behind their products. Love it!

KitchenAid KP26M1XNP Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Nickel Pearl
- All-metal 10-speed stand mixer with powerful 575-watt motor
- 6-quart stainless-steel mixing bowl; direct-drive transmission
- Electronic speed sensor; auto shut-off; Soft Start minimizes splatter
- Wire whip, burnished flat beater, spiral dough hook, and pouring shield included
- Measurements H: 16.5, W:11.3, D:14.6
I bake a lot of bread and the main reason I just had to have this new mixer was because of the spiral dough hook, and yes...it was worth it. I think the spiral hook is far superior to the regular c-hook for mixing doughs, especially very sticky ones like rye. Also, I have made very stiff bagel dough in this mixer with no problem. I think the slow start is a nice improvement, eliminating splash out upon start-up. So far I have been pleased with this mixer, though it is noisy.
Pros: 1. It accepts all the attachments from the other KitchenAid mixers. 2. The cover for the attachment connector is hinged. (I have had the cover fly off one of the older mixers). 3. According to enclosed literature, the plastic parts which were the focus of previous complaints have been replaced with metal parts so that should no longer be an issue.
Cons: 1. I cannot imagine why, in this day and age, Kitchenaid would manufacture attachments that cannot go into the dishwasher! 2. The included splash cover feels kind of flimsy.
Note: I have purchased Metro Beater Blades for each of the mixers. I find they do a great job mixing batters and cookie doughs and definitely cut down on bowl scraping. Additionally they can go into the dishwasher.
This mixer is a must have for everyone's kitchen!!! - Shelly Littleton -
Almost 16 years ago, my husband bought me my first kitchenaide mixer, a 4 qt white one. It still looks and works like brand new. It never scratched, chipped or faded. This year for my 17th anniversary, he bought me my professional size 6 quart mixer as I have established strong baking skills and this skill has begun earning me some extra money. I love this mixer! It is powerful, it is an awesome size, and has allowed me to work less as far as how any batches I make of anything. The ability to adjust the speed is so beneficial that it has opened up the possibilities to make things I couldn't before. I would urge everyone who cooks, to get a kitchenaide mixer regardless of size. It will make your life so much easier in the kitchen! This is an all in one machine that will last a lifetime! I kept my first one, the motor has never broke down, and with my baking, I am sure that I will need to use a second mixer the next time I make a wedding cake! I assure you, there is no other appliance in the kitchen more dependable than this one!
If your a serious baker - skip this one - homebaker -
I purchased the Pro 600 because I like to bake bread. The first one I received in November, 2009 stopped working the first time I used it. I resorted to my trusty 25 year old Oster. They sent me a new one and I returned the non-working one (after just 1 try). The second one I received does work, but I am not happy with it. After 3-4 minutes, the machine shuts down and I end up finishing kneading the bread by hand. Once the machine cools off, it eventually will start again - but who wants to wait that long!!!! I called Kitchen-Aid to register my complaint and basically, they told me that I'm SOL. The machine is designed to shut down when it gets hot and it's doing what it's designed to do. I also did not overload the machine. This machine is equipped to handle 8 cups of whole wheat flour (or so they say), when I actually use 6-7 cups of whole wheat flour. So, I was not maxing the capacity out. If you just want to mix a box cake batter, it would be fine (but you would be able to complete that task with a cheaper mixer). If you are a serious bread baker, skip this product. I'm switching to Hobart!

Does the job for me. - J. L. Francis - Sacramento, CA
Why I bought it:
I make a lot of cakes from home.
Pros:
I can make a very big batch of buttercream. I love the options for all of the attachments.
Cons:
It bogs down a little when I really load it up but I haven't had it quit on me. I have to handwash the attachments because for some reason, the dish detergent crystalizes and sticks to them.
Great Product - theputertech -
Fast Shipping and great product. It is way more powerful than the Artisan series that I first bought. I would advise spending the extra money and getting this one. It is quieter than expected (about like the Artisan) and performs better. I like the extra features like the slow startup and It has not strained like the Artisan did with pizza dough. I look forward to getting the attachments for grain, meat and pasta.
Excellent - C. Harmon - Houston,TX
This machine is amazing. It makes baking, etc... a breeze. No more hand mixing. It's a bit loud, but otherwise a good buy.

KitchenAid KN2WJ Water-Jacket Bowl for 5- and 6-Quart Lift-Model Stand Mixers
Works OK - Mark Barton - Pasadena, CA United States
If you need this, you need it. It's good for lamingtons (an Australian classic) where you need a warm bath for the eggs if you're making Genoise cake from scratch and then a hot bath for the icing to keep it runny while you dip. Note that it's specific to 6 quart, bowl-lift mixers. It's very big but it needs to be for a 6 quart bowl.
The weak point is the tabs by which it hooks to the arms of the bowl-lift mechanism so that it goes up and down with the bowl. They're not exactly flimsy but they're very exposed and angular which means it's easy to damage yourself when washing/drying the bowl, and damage the tabs with a drop or heavy knock. In fact the KitchenAid packaging was grossly inadequate - just a cardboard box with no foam - so that the tabs were bent when the bowl arrived and had to be carefully straightened.
